Willie Watson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2024.
Willie James Watson, 74, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on July 28, 2024. Born on November 17, 1949, in Ashley Heights, NC, Willie was a cherished member of his community and a beloved figure in his family.

Willie dedicated over 40 years to truck driving, traveling across the United States. His passion for the open road was paralleled only by his love for fishing, entertainment, and singing. A man who lived to bring joy to others, Willie's favorite moments were those spent ensuring everyone around him was having a good time. His favorite song, "For the Good Times" by Al Green, was a true reflection of his approach to life.

In addition to his professional and personal pursuits, Willie was a family man who cherished gatherings and the simple joy of being surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Watson; children, Yulanda Eloise Watson, Ken McCrae, and Willie Jr. McCrae; step-children, Norlan Fung-a-Ling, Christopher Fung-a-Ling, Michelle Bailey, and Simone Glover; and siblings, Shirley Buttler, Betty Maske, Blanche Butler, and Rachel Streeter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanchie Mae Jones and Adell Watson; brothers, Johnny Watson and Raymond Watson; and step-son, Mark Spiers.

A viewing and memorial service will be held at Tribute & Tallent Funeral Home, located at 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28205, on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm.
