Willis Post, Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2024.
Willis ("Will"/"Bill") E. Post Jr, 77, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, in Enfield, CT, surrounded by his loving family. As a snowbird, he enjoyed the best of both worlds of Florida and New England. He was the beloved husband of Frieda (Gabusi) Post to whom he was married for 54 years.

He was born on July 14, 1947, in Mount Vernon, NY, and was the son of the late Willis Sr. and Frances (Pissinis) Post. He received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and a graduate degree from American International College in Business. He spent his professional career in the business world in the field of accounting.

A passionate traveler, Bill enjoyed exploring the country and world. Some of his favorite places were Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, China, South Korea, and Europe. He and his loving wife, Frieda, had many adventures, from camping across the U.S. early in their marriage, to RV'ing across the U.S. in their later years, to many happy cruises and international trips.

He also had a deep interest in genealogy, spending countless hours researching his family history in libraries and court houses across New England and New York. Bill was an honest and hardworking family man. He built enduring relationships that lasted many years.

He also found great satisfaction at his workbench, where he skillfully crafted projects and repaired items for family and friends. He was also known for his larger home improvement projects, such as replacing a roof, adding a deck to his house, painting, and helping his friends and family with their larger projects. His willingness to lend a hand and share his talents exemplified his generous spirit.

Bill is survived by his wife, Frieda, children Kathryn and Daniel, three grandchildren, and his sister Francine. He is predeceased by his grandson, Ethan. His legacy of adventure and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of his life will be held on November 2, 2024 between the hours of 12 noon and 1:30 PM at the Ladd Funeral Home at 19 Ellington Ave, Rockville, CT 06066. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 110 National Drive, Glastonbury, CT 06033.

I remember Bill as a neighbor, member of our La Buona Vita men's breakfast group, and a friendly, intelligent, and caring man who ended up becoming a friend with whom I could discuss matters of joint interest regarding world affairs and techie stuff. I will miss him a lot as I go thru the upcoming winter seasons in Florida. Goodbye Bill, I'm sure we'll meet again not to many years in the future. Rene' Seiler

In the last weeks I tried to be strong for my brother but couldn't hold back the tears. My brother tried to comfort me! He told me to remember all the memories we shared over the last 70 years. I told him he was aging me because I wasn't 70 yet. We both chuckled. Yes, Will, there are so many wonderful memories and I will cherish them. I'm glad we were as close as we were even though we lived so far from each other. Love you so much! Keep the elastics coming!!
