CARTERVILLE -- Wilma Cannon George, 83, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Carterville, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, after being admitted Dec. 25, 2012.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville with the Rev. Stephen Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Wilma was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Detroit to Ralph and Blanche (Hagler) Ellis. She married Kenneth Cannon March 23, 1951; he preceded her in death March 6, 1970. She later married Forrest R. "Hap" George on June 16, 1972, in Carterville; he preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2009.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Kathi Cannon Lee and her significant other, Larry Fentriss, both of Belleair Beach, Fla.; grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Loren Lee of Land O' Lakes, Fla., Stacy and Mike Winterberg of Campbell Hill and Kenna and David Mifflin of Murphysboro; great-grandchildren, Brayden Lee of Land O' Lakes, Fla., Christopher and Bridgette Winterberg of Campbell Hill and Tyler and Abigail Mifflin of Murphysboro; stepdaughter-in-law, Suzette George of Northville, Mich.; stepgrandson and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Janet George of Smithville, Mo.; great-stepgrandchild, Travis George of Northville, Mich., and Jaret and Jacey George, both of Smithville, Mo.; sister, Arlena Collier of Warrensburg, Mo.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn Sue (Rentfro) and Bill Lind of Donnellson, Iowa; nieces, Lynne and Jack Clemens of Summerfield, N.C., Anita and Anthony Belt of Warrensburg, Mo., and Katrina and Mike Altenhofen of Washington, Iowa; nephews, Rowdy Lind of Donnellson, Iowa, and Jason and Kathy Lind; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kenneth Cannon and Forrest "Hap" George; son-in-law, Michael Lee; stepson, Alan George; in-laws, Clara (Spiller) and Everett Rentfro of Southern Illinois; and Clyde and Olive George of Cypress.

Wilma was a past member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Carbondale and First United Methodist Churches in Carterville and St. Pe-tersburg, Fla.

She was a member of the Carbondale chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and mother advisor of Rainbow for Girls.

Wilma and Kenneth were owners of Cannon Jewelry in Carterville, Carbondale and Anna.

She enjoyed antiquing, quilting and volunteering for numerous organizations. Most of all, Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Kathi, you are in our thoughts and prayers as well as the geandchildren. We enjoyed our visits the past few years in Florida with Hap and Wilma both in their home and in the community. Please know we are thinking of you and hoping you hold on to the precious memories you have of your beautiful mother.

I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Wilma. She was such a sweet lady who will be truly missed. Each Christmas I think of her and chuckle as I hang the ornaments she sent for the boys. We love you and are so happy you are at peace.
