Winifred Sills Leithiser

DOVER - Winifred Sills Leithiser, formerly of Milford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in Westminster Village Health Center in Dover. She was 95. Mrs. Leithiser was born on March 6, 1913, in New York, N.Y., daughter of the late David and Helen (Nelson) Sills. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Leithiser was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Milford, where she was active in the Christ Church Women's Auxiliary and the Needle Point Quild. She was a former member of the Milford New Century Club, a charter member of the Milford Garden Club, a member of the Milford Historical Society and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis P. Leithiser; a son, Robert V. Leithiser; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. David N. Jr. and Norma H. Sills. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, A. Nelson and Nancy Sills, of Houston; two nieces, Winifred H. Brantner and Nancy S. Ross; two nephews, David N. Sills IV and Andrew N. Sills Jr.; and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at the Christ Episcopal Church, 200 N. Church St., Milford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 191, Milford, DE, 19963; or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
