Winona C. Benjamin

Winona C. Benjamin, 70, of 121 Susquehanna St., Towanda, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Winona was born on Aug. 31, 1945 in Towanda, the only child of Ralph K. Cook and Naomi Benjamin Cook. She was a graduate of Towanda High School and was employed for many years as a nursing assistant at the Bradford County Manor and for Guthrie Home Health until her retirement. Winona enjoyed volunteering at the Bradford County Manor, Wysox Fire Hall and the Asylum VFW Post. Most of all she loved caring for her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Carol Sue McNeal and husband Victor of Troy, Gale Fluck and husband Ed of Franklindale, Holly Rowe and husband Jay of Apex, N.C., Jason Benjamin of Towanda; grandchildren, Victoria, Josie and Joslyn; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Natasha, Serena and Jared; sisters-in-law, Marge Benjamin, Loretta (Ed) Kukaites; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend, Sheila Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar "Butch" Benjamin and LaVerne Vincent; her son, James "Jimmy" Benjamin; mother, Naomi B. Cook; and father, Ralph K. Cook.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Robert Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private in the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Pa.
