LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Winona L. David, age 88, the former Winona Landry, who passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at 9:50 p.m. at Rosewood Assisted Living in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette.

Ms. David was a native of Leroy and had been a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a self-employed beautician for more than 20 years. She also greatly enjoyed painting.

Survivors include two sons, Steven David and his wife, Sandra, and Joseph David and his wife, Faye, all of Scott; one daughter, Annette David of Broussard; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Landry of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney David, Jr.; one infant daughter, Janet Marie David; one infant son, Stephen Arthur David; and her parents, Joseph Landry and the former Anna Mae Comeaux.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Michael David, Joseph David, Jr., Steven David, II, Jason David, Nicholas Carpenter and Cody Carpenter.

The family would like to give special thanks to the management and staff of Rosewood Assisted Living and Heart of Hospice.

I had the pleasure of meeting, Winona, about fifteen years ago, when I lived in Lafayette for a short time. After I meet her, I realized we shared the same passion, hairdressing. My condolences go out to all her family at this sad time. She instantly made me feel welcoming in her home.

I got to know my cousin for a short time when I lived in Lafayette. I had the pleasure of doing her hair and visited in her home. She made me feel so welcoming, even though it was for a few months. My condolences goes to out to her entire family.
