OTTUMWA — Wm. Sean Berger, 40, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, after a long battle with esophageal cancer.He was born Oct. 18, 1968 in Ottumwa, Iowa, to William and Janice (Howk) Berger. He last worked for Custom Remodeling by Dean Taylor in Davenport.Sean and his dad shared a passion for Flattrack Motorcycle Racing. He belonged to the AMA, VDTRA and AHRMA.Surviving are his parents; a son, Wm. Cody and Cody’s girlfriend, Meghan Dunahoo, his sister, Shannon Koester (Mark Noel, nephew, Kyle Koester and niece, Shelbey Koester, all of DeWitt) a cousin, Kelli Lynn (Howk) Bankson and her three children, Cory, Chelsea and Hayden of rural Bloomfield; an uncle, Mark Howk of Ottumwa; his friend, Shawna Rossmiller and her two daughters, Emmalynn and Brandy.Preceding Sean in death were his grandparents, Elvin and Irene Howk; and Fritz and Margaret Berger; and an uncle, Sam Howk, all of Ottumwa.Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 in Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. The Rev. Sarah Kretzmann will officiate.
