LEONG _ Yee Ping September 4, 1925 - March 17, 2008 Yee Ping Leong passed away peacefully on March 17, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her surviving and loving husband of sixty-two years, Gee Nang; three daughters, Linda (Wai-Man), Shirley (Edward), and Ellen (Darren); her cherished grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin), Jenny, Emily and Brianna; three brothers and four sisters, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ling, three brothers, and one sister. Yee Ping was born on September 4, 1925 in Guangtung, China and was raised in both China and Hong Kong as a young girl. She was married on September 6, 1946. In 1956, her husband immigrated to Canada and Yee Ping raised her two daughters in Hong Kong before joining her husband in Calgary in 1966. Once here, she worked at various restaurants until she retired in 1986. Yee Ping's passion, besides her children and grandchildren, was tending to her many, many flowers, the Chinese Opera and traveling. For all those who knew her, Yee Ping will be missed for her love of conversation, generosity and infectious smile. The family would like to thank Dr. Gwynn Bebb and Dr. Allison Murray, the Division of Respiratory Medicine at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Jacquie Burke and Rowena Turner of the Home Care Response Team, and the outstanding staff of Unit 46 at the Foothills Hospital for the loving care they provided our loving mother.
