Yolanda "Charisse"

Yolanda Charisse Harris, 48, departed this life January 21, 2015, in UTMC Hospital after a long illness.

Yolanda, known to most people as "Charisse," attended Scott High School and Owens College.

Charisse worked in retail most of her life before retiring on a medical disability due to health problems.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sadie and Hunter Jones, Claude Coleman, Alonzo and Mary Harris and her son, Isaac Keith Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memory, parents, Maxine Gardner and Donald Harris; stepparents, Willie (Lynn) Gardner and Gussie Harris; daughter, Kamesha Welch; grandchildren, Michael and Kamya Peppers; sisters, Stacie Gray, Erica Harris, and La Keysha Knox; brothers, Prentis (Carol) Holmes and Donald (Monica) Harris Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives; special friends, Erica Barker, Orlando Thompson, Michael Spears; special uncles, Myron and Jerome Coleman.

Wake Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 4-6 p.m., wake 12 noon and Funeral Friday, January 30, 2015, at 1 p.m. at The House of Day Funeral Service Chapel.

To the Harris Family, you have my deepest condolences... I remember Charisse when she used to play with my sister and I on Woodland Ave when she would be over "Aunt Bess's" house. She and I have always had good conversations... I just found out about this and I am deeply saddened. She will truly be missed! Well Charisse, you are in GOOD HANDS now! I pray that Jesus gives your family not only comfort, but strength to carry them through this difficult time.
