Yvonne Marie Brooks

Yvonne Marie Brooks August 4, 1925-July 9, 2009 Resident of Richmond Annex Yvonne died at her home of 62 years surrounded by her loved ones. She was 83 years young. She died just as she had lived- concerned for the feelings of others, a positive attitude, a beautiful smile, and filled with dignity, courage, love and grace. Yvonne was preceded in death by parents Fred and Lorene Bertheaud (owners of the Silver Dollar of El Cerrito), sister Doris Lewis, sister Ada Wilder and brother in law Ray Wilder , brother and sister in law Bud and Clara Bertheaud, husband Robert Brom and son Steven Brom. She is survived by her sister Patricia Wolkenhauer of Pinole, daughters Sandy Brady of Sebastopol, Lisa Brom and Debbie Sober of Prunedale and son Robert Brom and daughter in law Vivian Diaz Brom of El Sobrante. Grandchildren Amber Roan and husband Mike of Sebastopol, K.C. Carlston of Las Vegas, and Lorene Carlston of Santa Cruz. Great-grandchildren Ellie and Quinn Roan and Geovani and Andres Fonseca. She is also survived by her former husband Johnny Brooks of Crocket, Step children Sonny Brooks of El Cerrito, Michael and Karen Brooks and granddaughter Erin Brooks of Crocket. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored her. Yvonne was born and raised in El Cerrito and loved it. She worked in cosmetics at Super S in Berkeley and left to become partners in "Giggy's College, a cosmetic training school. Her true passion was vintage costume jewelry. She and her daughter Sandy owned "The Family Jewels" in Orinda's Theatre Square. Yvonne's love of jewelry brought her much happiness and also great joy to so many others. Yvonne possessed a gentle, loving, generous spirit and had a great enthusiasm and love of life. She brought so much fun into every day for all who were blessed to share in her life. She will continue to live on as a bright light to all of us. Funeral mass Friday, July 17th at 1:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pinole.
