Yvonne J. Lund, 97, passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Born in Portsmouth on June 15, 1926 she was the daughter of Ivan and Ora (Dumoulin) Lund, was a graduate of Portsmouth High School Class of 1944 ,and a lifelong resident of the city.
Yvonne was a longtime employee of the Internal Revenue Service, retiring as a Senior Auditor.
Survivors include her nieces Yvonne Claffey and husband Francis, Pauline O'Donnell, Diane Carter and husband William, nephew William MacDonald and wife Diana, several grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Beatrice MacDonald, Irene Speer, Ivan Lund, Pauline Lund, and nephew Robert Lund.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 98 Summer Street, Portsmouth, on Tuesday, April 23, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Brookhaven Hospice, 1 New Hampshire Avenue Suite 209, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

When I worked in the Audit Division at the IRS Yvonne was one of the Auditors. She was a smart and gentle person. I was fortunate to have known her.

I conducted a brief Catholic service with Holy Communion which Yvonne usually attended. The last one she couldn´t attend, but asked me to go to her room to deliver Holy Communion to her. That was the last time I saw her.
I loved Yvonne, as did all of her friends who attended our service. They were all so sad to learn of her passing. She was always so upbeat and supportive of others, and had a dry sense of humor that kept us all laughing.

Yvonne was a lovely lady. I knew her when we both worked at the IRS. She was always so kind, so professional. It must have been difficult to be a woman doing a job that had previously been held only by men. She was ground-breaking and she represented her position with such grace and dignity. AND, she always looked and dressed beautifully!
