Francis Yvonne Michaels, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord on February 20, 2019, at the age of 77. Yvonne was born August 4, 1941, to Alex Ander and Ada Louise Hammac in Foley, AL, and spent most of her youth in Alabama and Florida, eventually graduating from Pensacola HS (FL). She met her future husband, Walter Wayne Michaels, who was stationed at Pensacola Naval Station, and they married on April 18, 1959. Soon after, Walt and Yvonne moved to Logansport, IN, and then in 1961 to Danville, IL. Yvonne pursued a profession in cosmetology and graduated from Danville Beauty School in the early 60’s. She opened her own beauty salon in Danville and again later in Henning, IL, where they moved their family in 1972. After more than 25 years, Yvonne decided to retire her business and in 1988 began a new occupation as an office administrator at Catholic Social Services in Danville. When Walt retired in 2001, they moved to Oxford, AR, where Yvonne worked as an assistant in a local dentist office. Soon after the death of her husband Walter in 2008, Yvonne retired to Tomball, TX, where she spent many years enjoying church activities and volunteering throughout the community.
In her spare time, Yvonne enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, collecting, antiquing, and shopping. She loved to work crosswords, visit with friends, play games, and dance. She mostly loved spending time with family, especially her nine grandchildren. And...Yvonne loved the color PINK.
Yvonne had a way of making everyone feel special. She was a good listener, advisor, confidante, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters Margaret (Ken) Denton, Hope (Scott) McAndrew, Sharon (David) Christian, and Brandy (Mark) Hein; and grandchildren Paige Denton; Cory Hume and Emily Hume (David) Osborne; Machaela, Kaitlynn, and Camryn Christian; Addison and Kolton Hein. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Wiley, Sandra Hatch, June (Andy) Pollard, and Tony (Bobbie) Hammac, and numerous nieces and nephews. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Lila Jean, her husband Walter (2008), and her granddaughter, Elise Christine Denton (2016).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of Yvonne’s courageous journey are appreciated.

Yvonne was such a wonderful lady. We spent many weekends together while her and Walter lived in Henning. Shopping, traveling, watching BHHS ballgames and cheerleaders. She was a friend to everyone. She raised her four daughters to be the kind of children everyone would be proud of. Please accept our condolences and we are so sorry not to be able to make her funeral. May God Bless her soul and her family.
