Zach McGarry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 24, 2018.
1979 ~ 2018
Zach was born in Seoul, Korea on November 24, 1979. His early years were in Salt Lake with his mother and sister Aubrie. His mother Cindy remarried in 1990 and Zach gained a Dad (Craig), 2 brothers (Anthony, Travis), and a sister (Tonya). Zach found comfort in his new blended family and was welcomed and loved by the Averys. In 1995 twin sisters were born (Brindee, Brianna) and the house was full.
Zach enjoyed school and graduated from Jordan High in 1998. His passions were in the outdoors. He was a hunter and loved to drive off-road in his truck. He spent a lot of time working for the family sound business and developed a love of music and Karaoke. Zach was a master at puzzles and spent a lot of time later in life solving puzzles developing his wood and string crafts.
For more than 20 years Zach struggled with mental issues that came on in his teens. He battled seizures and memory problems gallantly. He and his family did their best to work with doctors to treat the illness, but ultimately, that is what took his life. Zach died at home on August 17th, 2018.
Zach loved to be around people but was often misunderstood. His joy was to be with family in any kind of celebration. He was pure of heart and will be missed dearly by those closest to him. Zach is a believer in Christ and his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace in a better place.
A memorial service for Zach will take place at the LDS Meetinghouse at 1988 West 11400 South, South Jordan, UT on Friday August 24th at 6 pm.

I’m Zach’s step-cousin. I was around him a few times at family gatherings. I was sorry to hear of his death a couple years ago. I didn’t ask many questions because I haven’t lived in Utah for almost 20 years. But his death has been bothering me so I decided to see if I could find more information about him. Now I understand what Zach was going through, (person experience myself) and I know he’s not in that constant struggle, like so many of us have!! To Cindy, Aubrie, Craig, Tonya, and Anthony...I’m so sorry for the loss of Zach. Just have comfort to know that he is with his step-brother Travis, Travis’s mom, Julie, and JESUS now!!

I remember Zach helping Tony & Craig on sound gigs when I played for the Sensations. Zach was always ready to help and fixed things quickly when they went wrong. Most importantly, he would make sure my partner in crime, Skip Musgraves, and myself were never without liquid refreshment! If Zach was on the gig, you knew everything was gonna be alright. Zach, you left us way too soon.
