It is with a heavy heart that I write this as Zach helped to create many special moments while a member of the Band Program at Thousand Oaks High School.
Zach celebrated life in everything he did. He was constantly looking on how he could uplift his experience and those around him at every rehearsal and performance.
His spirit and humor were infectious to all those around him. He will be greatly missed by his band family.

Zack was so accomplished, yet he rarely mentioned his accomplishments; he was a saxophonist who chose not to toot his own horn. A true humble hero, his natural and playful compassion contrasted with his feats of derring-do. You may have been a quiet leader, Zack, but your example resonates loudly and clearly.
Life is lessened by your passing, but we have been more than enriched by the short time you spent on this earth. Fred, Elizabeth and Marina - thank you for sharing Zack with so many. We smile whenever we think of all of us biking to Stearns Wharf together. Zack is in the thoughts and prayers of every circle within this community. This a testament to Zach´s humility and radiance, and of his loving family´s enduring influence upon him.
Much love,
Paul & Suzi Liu

Zach was a remarkable kid. I was at his Eagle Court of Honor and he was so happy for that achievement. I knew Zach was going to be successful and accomplished. He had such a wonderful spirit about him and he lit up the room when he entered. Gone too soon. May God beless the Zernick family and let his memory live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew him.

I played soccer with Zack's dad. One day, his dad told me that Zack wanted to give away his old collection of Legos and asked me if my son would take it. I said yes, and my son and I were very grateful for Zack's generous gesture. I visited the Zernicks a couple of times after that. I chatted with Zack and played foosball with him. He was a brilliant, generous young man. We are saddened for the rest of his life that is not to be, and for his family. May they find consolation and may he rest in peace.

All through the school years, Zack was right in between my kids grade levels, and I have many memories of seeing him in activities, winning awards, and working hard, always with a smile. He was always impressive! My deepest condolences to the family.

I was fortunate to have met Zack since 2017 through my brother Anthony who was a mentor to Zack for years. The last I talked to Zack was early 2022 at my brother's house. He was full of excitement about what he was doing in his life. I was saddened to learn of his passing. I offer my deepest condolences to his parents, sister and relatives. Rest in peace Zack. You lived your life to its fullest. You shall always be remembered by those you touched and that loved you.
