ZeLottis ‘Z.L.’ Lucas Jr.

ZeLottis "Z.L." Lucas Jr., 95, of Vertrees, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at his home.

He was a native of Breckenridge County. He was a deacon at Vertrees Baptist Church and a member of the Stephensburg Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was a former owner of Lucas Paving Company, part owner of Lucas-Hussey Tobacco Warehouse and retired from the board of directors at The Cecilian Bank.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Wilmoth Lucas; his parents, ZeLottis Lucas Sr. and Vinnie Lucas; a daughter, Avon Evans; a son, Dwight Lucas; a brother, George Lucas; two sisters, Leona Morrow and Lida Lucas; and stepmother, Kathern Lucas.

He is survived by three sons, Eric (Beverly) Lucas of Elizabethtown, Kevin (Betty) Lucas and Bruce (Crystal) Lucas, all of Vertrees; a daughter, Shelia (Gary) Drane of Vertrees; a brother, Joe (Janet) Lucas of Scottsburg, Indiana; four sisters, Lois Jean Higdon of Louisville, Bobbi Faye Snider of Clarksville, Indiana, Margie Ann (Hub) Hoagland of Muncie, Indiana, and Wanda (Glen) Irish of Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, John, Erica, Adam, Kyle, Amber, Missy, Chastity, Jeff, Casey and Zach; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother John Boone officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and continues at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
