Doris Cowen Obituary
Doris was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Romulus, Mich., to Reuben Durard and Ada Belle (Bower) Harvey. She married Robert M. Cowen Nov. 25, 1952, and he preceded her in death Feb. 23, 2001.
Doris spent her days caring for her family and home. She loved her family and loved having get-togethers. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was always happy and smiling and loved by everyone.
Doris is survived by her children, Bradley (Kimberly) Cowen of Manchester, Gregory (Jan) Cowen of Britton and Candace Skelton (Bradford Dillon) of Britton; grandchildren, Melanie (Troy) Alcock, Derek (Michelle) Cowen, Justin (Samantha) Cowen, Jordan (Laura) Cowen, Tara (Brent) Buchler, Tayler (Erin) Skelton and Chloe Cowen; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Spencer, Hannah, Connor, Shaun, Will, Camryn, Brynn, Kellen, Blake, Kendall, Drew and Paisley.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Pastor Jim Schenck officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. preceding the service.
Donations may be made to the Ridgeway Township Fire Department or the Britton Deerfield Schools. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.

Doris was such a lovely lady. She loved going to church at Cambrian and that is where I got to know her. I loved her gentle smile and the light that emitted from her soul. What a gift she was! What a blessing to so many. Welcome home to heaven Doris - and I will miss seeing you and giving you hugs.
