Joan Meads Obituary

MILAN - Joan Meads, age 70, of Milan died unexpectedly Saturday, July 9, 2016, at her home.

She was born July 26, 1945, in Adrian, Mich., to Alton and Maureen (Kopka) Clough. On Feb. 6, 1965, she married Clarence Meads in Adrian, Mich., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2014. Joan retired from the University of Michigan Hospital in 1990 where she had been a nurse for 17 years. She enjoyed crafts, especially cross-stitching. She loved being with her family; her grandchildren were the love of her life.

She is survived by her three children, Trisha Meads of Milan, Todd (Crystal) Meads of Chelsea and Joseph (Rachel) Meads of Milan; six grandchildren, Mitchell (Xoche), Madison, Wayne, Jacob, Mallory and Mason; one great-grandson, Zeke, and one on the way; two brothers, Nelson and Bill (Charlotte) Clough, both of Blissfield; and a sister, Elaine McBride of Glennie, Mich.

Besides her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lois Ray.

Services took place Thursday, July 14, at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan, with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Assoication. www.ochalekstark.com.
