Sister Kathleen Donnelly O.P.

ADRIAN - Sister Kathleen Donnelly, formerly known as Sister Charles Mary Donnelly, died on April 2, 2018, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 96 years of age and in the 79th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Kathleen was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., to Charles and Kathleen (O'Hare) Donnelly. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Mich. and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Master of Arts degree in education, both from Barry College (University) in Miami Shores, Fla.
Sister spent 70 years ministering in elementary education in Detroit, Mich.; Miami Beach, Pensacola, Jacksonville, Hollywood, St. Petersburg, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, Fla.; and Chicago, Ill. She was principal for six years at Sacred Heart School in Pensacola, seven years at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in Ft. Lauderdale, and 35 years at St. Hugh School in Miami, all in Florida. She also volunteered in pastoral ministry for 11/2 years at St. Patrick Parish in Miami Beach. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich., in 2011.
Sister Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Jane Spencer. She is survived by a sister, Patricia Lechifflard of Lake Worth, Fla., and loving nieces and nephews.
Welcome of Sister Kathleen will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, in the Dominican Life Center Lobby; the Wake will follow from 6:15 to 7 p.m. in the Rose Room of the Dominican Life Center. The Reception of the Body and Vigil Prayer will be at 7 p.m. in St. Catherine Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018. The Rite of Committal will be in the Congregation cemetery.
