David Snapp Obituary

David Kenneth Snapp, 80, passed away on November 2, 2025. David was born on September 10, 1945, in Lewistown, Montana to William Donald Snapp and Hilda Marie Hill. He grew up on the family ranch located 25 miles northwest of Lewistown on the 72 Bench Road with older brother William James and older sisters Louise and Margaret.

He graduated from Denton High School in 1963. He was then drafted into the US Army and served in Greece from 1967-1968 and then finished his service in the Reserves until 1973. In 1971, he married Valorie Jeanne Smith in Lewistown. From there they raised cattle, grew grain, and had four children: Stephanie, Bryan, Brandi, and Brenda.

He was active in various groups: Eagles for 54 years, Denton (Danvers) Rod and Gun Clubs, Hilger Fire District, 4-H Livestock Committee, Fergus FFA Alumni, Fergus County Livestock Association, Crooked Creek Walleye Chapter, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Cottonwood Silhouette Club, Shooting Complex sponsor and NRA (where he became a certified youth shooting instructor). He loved supporting many groups (especially youth) in the area where there was a chance to win the big prize: Jaycees, Fergus and Denton Boosters, 4-H, FFA.

Along with his passion for the farm and ranch life, David loved hunting and fishing, playing cards, and taking a chance on the casino machines. David especially enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends and sharing stories. He loved watching and supporting his children and grandchildren with their sporting events and other activities.

David was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Hilda; brother, William J.; sister, Margaret; sister, Louise and her husband Glenn (Vogl); and nephew, William K.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Valorie; son, Bryan; daughters, Stephanie (Delwin Potter), Brenda (Bryan Omerza), Brandi (Shawn Jones); brother-in-law, Roger Johnson; sister-in-law, Patricia Snapp; niece, Maureen (Fred Picco); seven grandchildren, Tayla, Hunter and Wylee Snapp, Daniel, Randie, Theo, and Delwin (DJ) Potter; five great-grandchildren; three grand dogs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Denton Rod and Gun Youth Team, Hilger Fire Department, or Denton Fire and Ambulance. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 10th, from 3:00 to 6:00 at the Eagles Club in Lewistown.
