Cindy Bliven Obituary

Cindy Bliven

September 13, 1959 - March 26, 2026

Cindy Bliven, 66, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 13, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, to Lucille Harmon. The family made their home in Lexington, Nebraska in 1960, where Cindy attended public school and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1977. Over the years, Cindy worked various jobs such as being a cleaner at the Minuteman Motel in Lexington. She later on began working at Taco Johns when they first came to town, transitioning later to Reach Electronics. Cindy then went on to work at Parker Hannifin for over 25 years until her retirement.

Cindy was united in marriage to Don Bliven in 1979, and together they welcomed two sons, Nathan in 1980 and Eric in 1982. The couple later divorced, but remarried in 1991, continuing their shared commitment to family. They later divorced again. She then began a lifelong partnership with Daryl "Squid" Widholm, and the couple were blessed with 26 years together.

Cindy was a lover of crafts, dedicating her time to painting and creating dreamcatchers. She enjoyed surrounding herself with flowers and plants, even if they didn't always thrive, and was quite the bowler, having competed in several competitions over the years. Her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her family-camping together and taking in sunsets at the lake. Cindy's love for her family was unwavering. She played an active role in helping raise her grandchildren, always present, supportive, and full of encouragement. She never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, proudly serving as their biggest cheerleader. No matter the circumstance, Cindy was someone her family could count on-steadfast, caring, and always there when she was needed most.

Those left to cherish her memory is her partner, Daryl "Squid" Widholm of Gothenburg; her sons, Nate Bliven of Lexington, and Eric Bliven of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Amya Bliven and Alexis Bliven, both of Lincoln, Caleb Bliven of Lexington, Coby Bliven of Kearney, and Cayden Bliven of Lexington; great-grandchild, Azalea Bliven; her brothers, Rod Harmon of Lexington and Dan (Cindy) Harmon of Lexington; sister-in-law, Gloria Harmon of Arapahoe; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Brent) Goodell of Minden, Justin (Deidra) Harmon of Grand Island, Matt (Amy) Harmon of North Platte, Jeff (Michelle) Harmon of Holdrege, and Christopher (Shannon) Harmon of Arapahoe; great-nieces and nephews, Brynlee, Hunter, Carson, Thea, Marcus, Cadence, Tristan, Adam, Faith, Gracie, and Ella; her good friend, Melany Baxter of Aurora; as well as extended family and many friends.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Lucille and Leland Grassmeyer, her brother, Mike Harmon; uncle, Wilbur Kleint; aunt, Doris Meints; and great niece, Madysn Harmon.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. The service will be livestreamed via the Trinity Lutheran Church website at tlclex.org.

Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington following the service.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
