Anthony Copeland Obituary
LIMA -- Anthony T. "Deacon" Copeland, age 56, of Lima passed away Sunday, August 17,2025 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1969 in Lima to Gary A. and Elaine M. (Henderson) Copeland, Sr. He was preceded in death by is mother Elaine.
His father Gary survives in Lima.
Additional surviving family members include long-time companion Gia Corpening of Lima, brother Gary A. (Debora) Copeland, Jr. of Lima, sister Tina M. (Daryl) Copeland-Hall of Manvel, TX, niece Micah M. Hall, nephew Daryl L. "DJ" Hall, Jr., and a host of extended relatives.
Deacon was an active employee at United States Postal Service and had worked there for 32 years. He was a spiritual man and loved the Lord. He was a faithful church goer and member of Bible Believers Church in Lima.
He participated in New Season Men's Ministry in Tipp City.
Deacon loved people and he believed in the unconditional power of love.
He had a passion for barbecuing and had become an undeniable master on the grill. Deacon had a very generous and giving heart and unselfishly shared his love of grilling with family and friends every opportunity he had. He enjoyed traveling and exploring the variations of barbecue flavors across the country. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid University of Michigan fan. Having been a former basketball player himself at Lima Senior High School and Heidelberg University, he was a former basketball coach for Lima West Junior High School and the Junior NBA League.
The family will receive guests 11am to 1pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Bible Believers Church, 3500 Spencerville Rd., Lima, OH 45805. The memorial celebration will immediately follow starting promptly at 1pm.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bible Believers Church in honor of Deacon, in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be shared at BayliffAndSon.com.
