LIMA -- E. Arthur Heft, age 84 of Lima, passed away at 3:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his residence. Art was born November 22, 1940, in Versailles, OH, to Ferdinand & Fay (Williams) Heft who preceded him in death. On June 27, 1965, he married Anita Miller who passed on April 16, 2022.
He was a 1958 graduate of Versailles High School and was a 1962 graduate of Ohio Northern University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts Education. He taught Industrial Arts for many years at Bath Local Schools. Art was a member of Grace Community Church. During his life, he was passionate about serving God through missions and church service. Art was an avid woodworker. He and Anita were very involved in the Allen County Fair and 4-H, founding Grand Oak Woodworking.
Art is survived by their children: Andrea Burkholder of Lima, Michael Heft of Wapakoneta, and Matt (Amberly) Heft of Findlay, 12 grandchildren: Clay (Whitney), Molly, Madison and Luke Burkholder, Broderick, Keaton, Macyn and Scarlett Heft, Landon, Rebecca, Marshall and Cora Heft; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Hayden Burkholder; and a sister Jane Ann (Tom) Harris of Eaton.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services with Pastor John Heyward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 16, 2024, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home and again on Tuesday, from 10:00 until the time of services.
