LIMA -- Barry Lee Creps, 80, passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2024 at the Ross Heart Hospital - OSU Wexner Medical Center. Barry was born in Lima, Ohio on December 21st, 1943 to Edith and Paul Creps, who preceded him in death.
Barry graduated salutatorian from Harrod High School and later attended the University of Cincinnati. He worked for several companies before finding his calling with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a dedicated employee and held several roles - clerk, mail carrier, and IT specialist. He retired after 36 years of service.
In 1977, Barry spotted his beloved wife, Linda, while working in the Post Office - it was a match made in heaven. Barry and Linda blended their families and were married for more than 46 years. They spent time doing what they loved; camping, fishing, playing cards and games, attending sporting events for their children and grandchildren, and simply enjoying being together - even just sitting in their favorite recliners watching TV or movies.
If ever there was a handyman, it was Barry Creps. He was self-taught and could build or fix anything! He helped build several homes with his father-in-law, was a master woodworker, and excelled at all things computer or technology related. Barry was often the first call when someone needed something fixed or if you had a special woodworking request. He was smart, strong willed, loyal, focused, had a strong sense of what is right, and will forever be remembered for his loud and deep laugh!
Barry loved his family and friends fiercely, and they all loved him back. He was always up for a phone call, Friday night dinner and cards, or a gaming session on Xbox. He loved family time and especially enjoyed the holidays when everyone would gather for a good meal, conversations about times gone by, and always a game of cards.
Barry will certainly be missed, but he will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him. Barry is survived by his wife, Linda, four children; Barry Creps Jr., David Creps (Michelle), Aaron Strange (Jennifer), and Kelly Adlesh (Michael), five grandchildren; Amber Jones, Sam Strange, Cassidy Adlesh, Madisyn Adlesh, and Kane Adlesh, one great-grandchild, James Jones, brother, Steve Creps, sisters-in-law; Tammie Solomon and Renee Vermillion, many nephews and nieces, and beloved dog Sabastian.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Chiles - Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 10:00am at the Shawnee Chapel. Rev. Tim Benjamin to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, on State Route 81 and Thayer Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deb's Dogs, P.O. Box 1002, Lima, OH 45801-1002.

We are so sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was a good man. Our parents were good friends from years pasted. I'll always remember Linda, a special lady, and sweet Kelly, who I really adored as a youngster. May Barry rest in peace.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Barry's passing. We worked together at the Lima Post Office, and besides getting the job done, he was always fun to be around. Besides being a terrific person, he was also an electronics genius. My condolences to his family and friends.
