LIMA - Carole S. Martin, age 78 of Lima, passed at 11:22 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025, at home with her family around her. She was born January 2, 1947, in Lima, Ohio to the late Harold Russell and Ruth Marie Scott Cox. On June 12, 1980, she married David L. Martin who survives.
Carole graduated from Perry High School in 1965 and Rhodes State College in 1977 and became a Registered Nurse. She devoted 38 years as a nurse at Lima Memorial Hospital, where she helped establish the Cath Lab, ran the Cardiac Rehab Center, and later served as manager of the Cardiac Treatment Center. Carole's dedication and passion for her staff and patients were unmistakable, and she continued to cherish those relationships, even years after she retired. Over the years, her children recall when going out in public with her that she would always stop to talk to multiple patients that she had made a huge impact on.
Carole had a passion for serving others and will be deeply missed by so many.
She also had a deep love for Perry athletics, spending countless hours over many years attending games to cheer on her children and grandchildren. Even in recent years, when she was no longer able to attend in person, she never missed watching from home on her iPad. Watching her children and grandchildren brought her immense joy.
Carole especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren – reading books, baking cookies, and playing games together. These moments meant the world to her. You could often find Carole gazing out her kitchen window, peacefully watching the beautiful birds in her backyard. She also enjoyed collecting 'Precious Moments' figurines.
Also surviving 6 children – William (Michelle) Martin, Thomas (Jennifer) Ewing, Kevin (Michelle) Ewing, Paul Martin, Michelle Martin, Natalie (Daniel) Scott, 15 Grandchildren – Josh (Angie) Zimmerly, Jake Zimmerly, Nathan Martin, Megan (Beau) Ewing, Sarah (Tyler) Claus, Devin Martin, Seth (Amanda) Ewing, Brock (Emily) Martin, Emily (Trystahn) Eyerly, Elizabeth Ewing, Lexenna Lee, Hunter Scott, Colten Scott, Tate Ewing, and Weston Scott; many cherished great grandchildren; 1 sister – Martha (Lyn) Perkins.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2025, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The service will be led by the family. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry Athletic Boosters.

I worked with Carole for over 20 years at LMHS. Everyone loved her and she ran a "tight ship" in the Cardiac Treatment Center. Her rehab patients loved her even when she got bossy!!! She didn´t cut them any slack!!!!!! May your memories be a blessing and comfort to all of you.

We are so sorry to learn of Carole´s passing. We knew her for many years from school and church. She was a grade ahead of us. We were majorettes together 1 or 2 years, too. I remember how she was always kind to everyone.
