CAROLYN GEIGER
BRADENTON, Fla. — Carolyn Geiger, 76, of Bradenton, Fla., entered into eternal rest on Oct. 28, 2014, at her residence.
Carolyn was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Gilboa to Alvin and Clara Ketner. She married John D. Geiger and they divorced. She then spent her life with Robert Hitchcock until his passing.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Terry (Rick) Hovest, of Ottawa, Tauna (Steve) Geiger, of Sulphur, La., John David (Diane) Geiger, of Warren, Pa., and Connie (Jim) Stimmel, of Elida; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Kuhlman, Matt Hovest, Tyler (Andrea) Hovest, Megan Hovest, Ryan (Shannon) Geiger, James Geiger, Katelyn Geiger, Emily Blankenship, Jacob Stimmel and Joshua Stimmel; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Jane Kuhlman and Peyton Matthew Hovest; two brothers, John (Diane) Ketner and Ed Pat Ketner; and a sister, Jane White.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David (Jan) Ketner; and two half-brothers, Alvin Ketner and Alfred Ketner.
She graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School in 1956. Carol worked at Phillips ECG in Ottawa for 33 years. After retirement she enjoyed a career at Merle Norman for 10 years after which she became a fulltime resident of West Winds Village in Bradenton, Fla.
While in Florida, Carol enjoyed playing pinochle and euchre. She participated in Ladies Luncheon, style shows and pool parties. One of her favorite pastimes was to go to the beach on Anna Maria Island where her family and friends joined her for beach days, evening meals and spectacular sunsets.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at Harman Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Graves officiating. Fellowship will follow in the Gilboa United Methodist Church basement.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Cancer Assistance Program of Putnam County.
