DR. CHARLES KIDD
KALIDA — Dr. Charles Kidd, 92, of Kalida died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born May 28, 1924, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late C. Russell and Lillian (Robin) Kidd. On August 22, 1946, he married Elizabeth Slaymon, who died April 19, 1995. On July 5, 1997, he married Maria (Forster) Vennekotter, who died July 9, 2013.
He is survived by four children: Kathleen (Kenneth) Ruszkowski of Williamsburg, Virginia, Daniel (Sandi) Kidd of Houston, Texas, Kevin (Kathleen) Kidd of Lima, and Patrick (Mary Ann) Kidd of Lima; four stepchildren: Lisa (Mark) Rippetoe of Continental, Mike (Debbie) Vennekotter of Ozark, Maryland, Dr. Don (Mary) Vennekotter of Jasper, Indiana, and Dr. Kathy (Michael) Busch of Hilliard; 11 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and a brother: Anthony Kidd of Columbus. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles R. Kidd, Jr.
Dr. Kidd graduated from St. Benedicts High School in 1942, Western Reserve in 1950 and Ohio State Medical School in 1954. His entire life was dedicated to his family and the patients he served in Putnam County for 45 years. He was a member of St. Michaels' Catholic Church, Kalida, and was a 4th Degree member of Kalida Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of Kalida School Board, Shawnee Country Club, Serra Club of Lima, Ottawa American Legion, Kalida Rod and Gun, and Putnam County Right to Life. Dr. Kidd was also a member of the Ohio State Medical Association and Putnam County Medical Society. He was a WWII Army veteran.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. David Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, Ottawa VFW, and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Putnam County Right to Life or St. Michael's Parish.

So sorry about your dad. He was a great man and a wonderful doctor. He delivered all 3 of my children and my mom assisted him in many deliveries at St. Rita's. We both thought very highly of him. May your wonderful memories get you through the days ahead.

Dr.Kidd has always been a part of our lives he took care of us kids when we where young .He delivered my youngest son.My mom Sharon Mull worked for him for a few years and they recently found a friendship again .I know my mom will miss visiting with him but he touched so many lives and now he will be with Liz again .You have our deepest sympathy and may he rest in peace.Kathy (Mull) Recker
