CRIDERSVILLE — Christopher A. Butturff, age 51, passed at 2:29 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2021 at St. Rita's Medical Center, following a battle with cancer. He was born September 25, 1969 in Lima, Ohio to Ralph E. and Maxine Kay Smith Butturff of Waynesfield.
Christopher, also lovingly known as 'FooFur', graduated from Waynesfield Goshen High School and received his Associates degree in marketing from NorthWestern Business College. He had worked at Kerns Fireplace and Spa in Lima. Growing up, he attended the Waynesfield Baptist Church and began writing plays at the age of 13 for the church. He was multifaceted and very creative. He was an active board member with both the Amil Tellers-Encore Theater Group and the Wapakoneta Theatre Guild. Another organization he was involved with was the Van Wert Civic Theater. Chris was part of a improv writer's group in which he would write and then preform in.
Chris collected action figures of all kinds. Star Wars was his favorite and he would display these in his 'Geek Room.' He loved collecting movies and going to the movie theater. He had started a YouTube Channel about the plays he had been in. Chris will always be remembered for being kindhearted, having a good sense of humor, and his love of the theater.
Chris loved life and was an exceptional young man that profoundly loved his family. Nothing was more important - than family. He was blessed with very loving parents that always encouraged him. Also surviving is his brother Eric and his wife Elaine Butturff of Lima. Eric was not only his brother, but a significant part of his life. Chris considered Elaine more like the sister he never had; she was steller and he was proud to have her as part of the family. Elisabeth Butturff, a niece, held a very special place in Chris's heart. She loved keeping Chris on his toes and bantering with him. Chris is also survived by a longtime best friend and "brother", Charles Smith of Cridersville.
A celebration of Chris's life will begin 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Encore Theater, North Shore Drive, Lima. Rev. Don Smith will be directing the service.
The family will be present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6 at the Encore Theater for friends to visit.
Contributions may be given to the Encore Theater.

Although I did not know Christopher personally, I did see him in a production years ago. He was so good in it. You could tell he was a natural and really loved what he was doing (acting). Praying for his family and friends at this time.

Chris and I did shows together at Encore Theater. One of my favorites was Wait Until Dark in 2005. He was funny, kind, and put his heart into productions at Encore. One of the great talents in the Lima area! It had been a while since we'd seen each other, but I know he will be missed.
