Curtis Schwinnen Obituary

DELPHOS – Curtis Dean Schwinnen, 21, of Delphos, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly of an unknown illness on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita's.

He was born July 23, 2000, in Van Wert, to Dean and Christina (Horstman) Schwinnen, who both survive in Delphos.

Curtis is also survived by his brother, Nolan Schwinnen and sister, Lydia (fiancé Ryan Fischer) Schwinnen, all of Delphos. He is also survived by grandparents, Irma Schwinnen of Delphos and Joe and Sharon Horstman of Ottoville; aunts and uncles, Deb and KC Looser, Tim and Deanne Schwinnen and Lisa Hays all of Delphos, Becky and Tony Collins of Dublin, Craig and Traci Schwinnen of Powell, Rick and Carol Horstman of Kalida and Brad and Jen Horstman of Kalida; numerous cousins; and friends too numerous to count in his hometown area where he grew up and the friends he made while at BGSU.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bernie Schwinnen.

Curtis was a junior at Bowling State University, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was a mass server. He graduated in 2019 from Delphos St. John's, serving four years on the Mission Society. In 2017, Curtis was a member of the state qualifying St. John's Basketball team. He was captain of the basketball and football team. Curtis was named to the 2018 and 2019 All MAC and District Football 2nd Team. He was a strong, dedicated team player. Curtis never met a stranger, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His smile will live on forever.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Following mass a funeral procession will proceed to Resurrection Cemetery where a prayer service will be held. Curtis' will be laid to rest at a later date in the cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Athletic Endowment Fund. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
