DALE JOSEPH
ELIDA — Dale E. Joseph, 81, of Elida, was called into the presence of the Lord at 7:08 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Dale was born September 24, 1933 in Cairo, to the late Cloyd and Edna Joseph. On August 31, 1959 he married Ellen A. (Craig) Joseph, who survives in Elida.
Dale graduated from LaFayette - Jackson High School in 1952 and joined the Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Fort Huachuca, Arizona from 1954 - 1957. Following discharge from military service, Dale, Ellen, and their son Michael moved to Queens, NY and Point Pleasant, NJ. Later daughters Cherie and Michele were born in New York and New Jersey respectively. Dale worked for Dryden Construction throughout the north east including Manhattan and Washington D.C. Dale was especially proud of masonry work accomplished on The Plaza, the Chrysler Building, The Verrazano Bridge and the Pentagon.
Dale and Ellen moved the family back to Ohio in 1968, settling in Elida. Dale joined the Ford Motor Company working at the Lima Engine Plant. Dale and his brother Roger grew the Joseph Lime Company in the early 1970's providing agriculture lime to the surrounding farming community, a perennial favorite at the Allen County Fair. Dale retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1982 to focus full time on Joseph Lime Company. Dale especially enjoyed time with family and friends, including classic car events and the annual Memorial Day Parade in LaFayette. Dale was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and the Eagle Aeries Lodge #370. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, who was an inspiration to his children, and grandchildren. Dale will be sorely missed.
Dale and Ellen were blessed with three children, son, Michael (Jill) Joseph of Cairo, daughter, Cherie (Dennis) Parsell of Delphos, daughter, Michele Murphy of Lima; four grandchildren, granddaughter, Jessica (Shannon) Owsley of Cairo, granddaughter, Jodi Parsell of Cape Coral, FL, grandson, US Army Staff Sgt. Shawn (Ashley) Murphy of Woodlawn, TN, and granddaughter, Valerie Parsell of Delphos; six great-grandchildren, great-granddaughter, NaDean Ogle, great-grandson, Sebastian Owsley, great-granddaughter, Sophia Owsley, great-grandson, Julian Calvelage, great-granddaughter, Peyton Murphy, and great-granddaughter, Embrey Murphy.
Other survivors include 3 brothers, Vern (Libby) Joseph of Lima, Tom (Roberta) Joseph of LaFayette, and Alan (Karen) Joseph of LaFayette; sister-in-law, Kathleen Post, of AZ and several nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Gloria Joseph, of Lima.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 209 W. North St., Lima, Ohio 45801. Pastor Michael Hughes will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and VFW #1275.
Friends may call from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, and one hour prior the funeral at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 209 W. North St., Lima, OH 45801 or Zion Lutheran Church, 1300 Edgewood Drive, Lime, Ohio 45805.

I'm so sorry for the family's loss. I'm sure you all have the most wonderful memories to cherish. I had spoke to Dale only a handful of times, and I knew right away he was a great man.
