WAPAKONETA — David S. Lambert, 89, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, passed away at 6:03 PM, Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Mercy Health-St. Rita's due to Covid-19 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 15, 1932, in Auglaize County to Arthur and May (Archer) Lambert who preceded him in death.
On July 19, 1958, he married Jeannette M. (Streacker) Lambert and she passed away on September 18, 2019.
Survivors include 4 children Pamela (Joseph) Schwer of Wapakoneta, Phyllis Beam of Orange, CA, Douglas (Dawn) Lambert of Wapakoneta, Daniel (Cathy) Lambert of Buckland; 8 grandchildren Jason Schwer, Brett Schwer, Lindsay (Justin) Amaral, Jenifer Beebe, Jonathon Beam, Philip Schneider, Brianna (Bryce) Swank, Alexa Lambert; 5 great-grandchildren Lillian, Aidden, Landon, Zoey, Asher; a sister Betty Alder; brothers and sisters-in-law Joan Dues, Evie (Bob) Heckman, Patty Wynk, Barbara (Jim) Fisher, Paul (Cathy) Streacker, Pauline (Roger) Everman, Kathy (Ken) Eyink, Connie (Bill) Rossi.
He was preceded in death by a brother William "Bill" (Nancy) Lambert, a sister Evelyn (Roy) Holtzapple, and brother-in-laws Lowell Dues and Vernie Wynk.
David was a 1952 graduate of Buckland High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a firefighter and was stationed in Guam. He worked at Lima Register for 32 years and then retired from Goodyear, St. Marys. He enjoyed squirrel and coon hunting with Mountain Curs dogs along with fishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 330. Recently he completed his bucket list traveling to California to visit his daughter and grandson, Minnesota fishing trip with his son and daughter-in-law, and an Alaska tour with brother and sister-in-law and good friend Virginia Hardesty.
Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Buckland Cemetery with Rev. Jedidiah Tritle officiating with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita's Hospice.
The Lambert family has entrusted Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services to handle the arrangements.
