DONALD BOOP
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Donald "Joe" Boop was welcomed into heaven by his beloved wife Dolores and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, November 15, 2013. He was born September 6, 1932 in Lima, Ohio, the son of George and Anna (Salisbury) Boop.
During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army. On May 29, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dolores Daisy Smith in Lima, OH. He worked with Brunswick and then InterKal for over 37 years prior to his retirement. Don faithfully attended Berean Baptist Church in Portage, MI since 1980. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State University and enjoyed bowling, softball, motorcycles, tinkering as a mechanic and painter, traveling and camping with his family. He and Dolores traveled to every state in the U.S. except Hawaii on their Goldwing.
Surviving are his four daughters, Joanna (Warren) Nieboer and Diana Boop of Mattawan, MI, Judy (Murphy) Shearer of Athens, MI and Julia Boop of Bellevue, IA; grandchildren, Donald Grantham, Rachel and Jacob (Heather) Nieboer, Nicole (Max) Hardish, Levi Boop and Karissa Keys; great-grandchildren, Micah Boop and Baby Girl Nieboer; brothers, Elwood "Sonny" Boop, Leo (Kathy) Boop. Preceding him in death were his wife, Dolores in 2011; and siblings, Elsie Mae, Ruth and Arthur.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM on Monday, November 18th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI. Funeral services for Donald will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 19th at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S. 12th Street, Portage, MI with Pastor Bill Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.

Julie, Judy and family I am so sorry to hear of your Dad and Mom's passings. I had no idea. I think of you guys often, so please contact me if you're interested in keeping in touch. To all of you Boop girls, I am so sorry for your loss and sad I couldn't make it. I know he is so happy to be with the greatest love of his life and the Lord. I hope he, your mom, and my mom are all smiling down at us all. I know they are all in a better happier place. Love you all.
