SPENCERVILLE -- Donald S. Francis, 89, of Spencerville, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at his residence.
He was born August 30, 1934, in Manchester, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Opal (White) Francis.
He married Wanda Mosley on September 13, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his children: Ricky (Deborah) Francis of Saint Marys; Patricia Francis of Spencerville; Robert (Clista) Francis of New Knoxville; Michele (Shane) Hughes of Spencerville; Don Francis of Saint Marys; by his son-in-law, Tim Smith of Saint Marys.He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his daughter, Deborah Smith; by his daughter-in-law, Loutisha Francis; by his brother, Robert Francis.
Don attended high school in Columbus, Ohio. He met his wife Wanda there and they shared almost 72 years of marriage. He retired from Sprint Telephone, where he served as an installer/repairman. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved NASCAR and was a jack-of-all trades. He was baptized on August 3, 1969, and became a member of the Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church in Saint Marys.He was ordained a deacon of the church on September 21, 1991.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church,14447 Glynwood-New Knoxville Road, Saint Marys, Brother Gary Mosley and Brother Billy Mosley, officiants. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Sunday at the church, and one hour prior to services on Monday.
Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, is entrusted with Don's funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared with Don's family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
