CINCINNATI -- Douglas Earl Antibus, 41, of Cincinnati and formerly of Bluffton passed away November 20, 2024 at his residence.
Douglas was born August 29, 1983 in Missoula, Montana to Robert and Joanne (Vinopal) Antibus.
Doug graduated from Bluffton High School in 2001. At Bluffton he was an active participant on both the Academic and Envirothon Teams. Doug initially attended Saint Olaf's College but completed his bachelor's degree and master's degree in biology from Kent State University. At Kent State, Doug received a NOAA sponsored Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship to study Old Woman Creek near Huron, Ohio. His resulting thesis was recognized with a Portz Scholars recognition from the National Collegiate Honors Council. In 2007 he was recognized with the Ralph W. Dexter Faculty Scholarship Award in Biology. After graduation he worked as an industrial microbiologist. Doug worked at the USDA in Peoria, Illinois and at Sensient in Chicago, and most recently worked at ADM (Archer Daniel Midlands) in Cincinnati. He enjoyed hiking, backpacking and fly fishing.
Survivors include his father, Robert Antibus of Bluffton; his sister, Wendolyn Antibus of Reno, Nevada; three uncles, Kenneth Vinopal of Twinsburg, Ohio, Charles (Donna) Antibus of Green, Ohio, Richard Antibus of Orville, Ohio and an aunt, Suzanne Winters of Solon, Ohio.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Antibus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Park District, 2355 Ada Road, Lima, Ohio 45801.
