Douglas Davis Obituary

LIMA -- Douglas H. "Doug" Davis, age 81, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family in Lima at his residence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet "Jan" (Miller) Davis; his daughter Tamara Sue Rhoad; his son Douglas Carl Davis and was preceded in death by his daughter Carmen Renee Davis. Also surviving are his six grandchildren Kyle Rhoad, Jonathon (Kim) Rhoad, Carla Rhoad, Amanda Rhoad, Andrew (Krista) Rhoad and Kody (Hayla) Davis, as well as five great-grandchildren Emree, Elias, Ezra, Ella and Zion.

Doug was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born on August 9, 1940 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was an active member of Lima Baptist Temple since 1961 up until his passing. He worked for Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant for 44 years, retiring in June 2004.

In life Doug thoroughly loved and enjoyed his family. Most days he could be found on the golf course or driving his Mustang, while listening to Southern Gospel music.

Doug's Christian faith and sharing his passion and love for the Lord with others was an essential part of his life. He founded "Harps & Strings", a musical instruments and singing group that ministered and performed for many nursing homes, events and churches.

He will be sincerely missed by his family and all those that he touched with his love, faith and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Lima Baptist Temple, 982 Brower Road, Lima.

Pastors Gary Hohman and Al Elmore will officiate the services.

Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, will immediately follow the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Lima Baptist Temple. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
