DWIGHT KUNKLEMAN
LIMA — Dwight Charles Kunkleman, 97, passed away at 6:34 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Lima Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.
Dwight was born on Tuesday, December 11, 1917, in Platte, South Dakota, to the late John Robert and Mora (Parriott) Kunkleman. On Saturday, October 05, 1940, in High St. United Methodist Church, Lima, he married Betty Jane (Frail) Kunkleman.
Mr. Kunkleman was a WWII Army Veteran. He worked as a Millwright at the Lima Ford Motor Engine Plant. He worked there from January 20, 1960 to 1982. He was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church and formerly he belonged to High St. United Methodist Church. He graduated from Shawnee High School where he played football and baseball. He was a member of the Carpenters Union #332 for 20 Years. He bowled and played softball for High St. United Methodist Church.
He is survived by: sons, David Franklin Kunkleman, Mansfield, Larry Jay (Barbara) Kunkleman, Lima, Timothy Wayne (Kay) Kunkleman, Lima, and Gregg Eugene (Sandi) Kunkleman, Lima; sister, Helen M. Pellegrini, Lima; brothers, Dale E. Kunkleman, Muskogee, OK, Howard Kunkleman, Lima; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eleven step great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: son, Paul Kunkleman; sisters, Clarice Rose Clee and Fern J. Gifford; brother, John Kenneth Kunkleman and Robert Kunkleman; brother-in-law, Paul Gifford and sister in-law, Gloria Kunkleman and two deceased grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Pastor Bill Cronk will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westside United Methodist Church, 604 Gloria Ave, Lima, Ohio 45801.
