Edward Fields Obituary

LIMA -- Edward "Toby" F. Fields, 87, passed away on February 26, 2024, at 5:32 am, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Toby was born August 25, 1936 in Lima, OH, to Edward "Buck" and Gladys (Clevenger) Fields who both preceded him in death. On September 24, 1960 he married Sharis (Baker) Fields who survives in Lima, OH.

Toby graduated from Lima Central High School in 1954. He then attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated in 1958 with a bachelors degree in business. Toby was in the Army National Guard in his younger years. He was the President and owner of Commercial Lithograph of Lima, OH, where many family and friends worked through the years. Toby was a life member of Christ Church Episcopal, Past President of the Lima Rotary Club, Past Board Member of the YMCA and Past Advisory Board Member of the Lima Salvation Army. Toby enjoyed watching Ohio State Football with his family. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada and time trials at the Indy 500. He had his private pilot licenses and flew his own plane across the country with his family. Toby cherished his wife and loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren dearly.

Toby is survived by his wife, Sharis J. Fields of Lima, OH, children, Eve (Mike) Koby of Wright City, MO, Francie Mason, Drew (Kelly) Fields of Ft. Jennings, OH, Jerry (Lorena) Fields of Lakewook, CA, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Rita Wilson, Bill (Joan) Fields, Deanne Thompson, Mary Ann Fields and sister-in-law, Connie (Jim) Gordon.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Shawnee Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 3:00pm at Chiles - Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Father Charles Obinwa to officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 614 E Market Street, Lima, OH 45801.

So very sorry to read of Toby's passing. We were childhood friends and "Clevenger cousins" with Gomer connections. Many happy memories on Oakland Pkwy in Lima.
