GREGORY STEVENSON
LIMA — Gregory Allen Stevenson, 51, passed away May 1, 2016, while attempting to rescue a child who had fallen into the Ottawa River.
Gregory was born April 27, 1965 in Bluffton to John D. Stevenson, who preceded him in death on May 20, 1991 and Roberta K. (White) Stevenson who preceded him in death on February 5, 2015.
Greg was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a 1983 graduate of Lima Senior High School where he had been a first chair violinist. Greg had been employed with Shawnee Pools. He had previously been employed for over 10 years as a maintenance man with Hampton Inn and had also had employment with Chriss Furniture. Greg enjoyed working outside, riding his bike and spending time with family and friends. Greg also enjoyed martial arts, participating in Taekwondo. Greg was a happy go lucky type of guy, always wanting to help someone. He will be greatly missed by all his friends at Union Square Apts. He was a good, loving, caring person and a true hero.
Greg is survived by his son, Adam Stevenson of Lima; daughter, Ashley Stevenson of Lima; his sisters Christine Simpson and Debra Mauri, both of Lima; niece, Heather (Mark) Dingledine, nephew, Bernard (Sarah) Simpson and his children's mother Carla Good.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery A Stevenson.
A memorial service was held at noon, Friday, May 6, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Harris officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to offset the funeral costs. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com.
