LEIPSIC – Hector F. Alafa, Sr., 72, of Leipsic, died on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 16, 1950 in Paducah, TX to the late Dionicio and Filomena (Flores) Alafa.
Hector is survived by two children: Melissa Alafa and Hector Alafa; four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Cristela Hinojosa of Leipsic, Emma (George) Kindle of Mississippi, Maricela (Juan) Tobias of California and Guadalupe (Alicia) Alafa of Holgate.
He is preceded in death by seven siblings: Francisco Alafa, Baldemar Alafa, Jose Alafa, Dionicio Alafa, Jr., Antonio Alafa, Alveza Hernandez and Maria Alvarado.
Hector was a United States Army veteran. He retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Lima. He was a member of the American Legion Post #96, Lima and the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral Mass will begin 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Leipsic American Legion, VFW, Amvets and DAV. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at St Mary's Parish Life Center, Leipsic, with a rosary service beginning at 10:45 a.m. Mass will be livestreamed at Leipsicstmaryparish.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic or Ohio Veteran's Home, 3416 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870.
