SEBRING, FL -- Herb Schroeder, 83, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Columbus Grove and Lakeview, died at 1:36 a.m. December 24 at The Palms at Sebring.
He was born April 13, 1941 at home in Ottawa to Alphonse and Emma (Krietemeyer) Schroeder. On February 10, 1962, he married Joan Rieman who preceded him in death on Oct 4, 2003. He was then married to Nancy Tresenrider on Oct 22, 2004 and she survives in Sebring, Fl.
Herb had been a farmer for many years before working at Metokote Corp. in Lima. Herb and Joan fostered 22 children through S.A.F.Y. of Ohio. He attended Eastside Christian Church, Lake Placid, FL.
He is survived by his children Phil (Kim) Schroeder, Mary (Curt) Darbyshire, Tony (Judi) Schroeder, Linda (Dave) Ridenour, Mark (Elisa Clevenger) Schroeder, Paul (Brandi) Schroeder, and Laura Stutts; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 brothers and sisters: Rose Ellerbrock, Emily (Stan) Karhoff, Joyce Gerdeman, Wilma Schroeder, Elaine (Dave) Odenweller, Chris (Jim) Heringhaus, Alphonse (Helen) Schroeder, Wayne Schroeder, Pete (Sabrina) Schroeder, and Jay (Doris) Schroeder; brother-in-law, Tom Schulte; Joan's siblings: Bill (Diane) Rieman and Ruth (Don) Vogler.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Bill Schroeder, two sisters, Jan Schulte and Beth Schroeder; and two brother-in-laws, Rich Ellerbrock and Wayne Gerdeman.
Also surviving are Nancy's children: Mike Mutters, Debbie Smith, Randy Mutters, Linda (Mike) Frazee, and Wendy Spires; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1 at New Hope Christian Center, 2240 Baty Road Lima, OH. Pastor James Menke will officiate the service.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 31 at New Hope Christian Center.
Memorial contributions can be donated in Herb's name to Compassionate Care Hospice of Sebring, FL.
A celebration of life will also be held on Sunday, February 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Eastside Christian Church, Lake Placid, FL.
