LIMA -- "The" Mr. Herbert "Herb" F. Sherrell, 85, joined his Heavenly Father and family on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 7:23 a.m. peacefully at his residence.
Herb was born on October 21, 1939, to Mr. and Mrs. John E. Sherrill Sr. in Pulaski, Tennessee. Herb caught the eye of Sandra Cornelia (Smith) from Florence, Alabama, and was united in matrimony on December 23, 1966.
Herbert "Herb" is survived by four daughters: Valencia Sherrell of Columbus, OH, Mama Oliphant of Cincinnati, OH, Marcitta and Marguerite Sherrel of Lima. Herb's pride and joy were his grandchildren: Adrian (Angie Miller) Houston of Forest, OH, Darnecia Johnson of Lima, Erica Oliphant, Ariana Sherrell, and Destiney Carmichael of Cincinnati, OH. Herb "BoBo" was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren: Nylah, Elijah, Zyair, James, Yonni, Sophia, Olivia, and Zoey. Herbert "BayBoy" is also survived by 3 sisters from Pulaski, Tennessee: Marguerite Sherrill, Mary Jane (James) Gentry, and Carolyn Sherrill; 1 brother-in-law, Keith MacIntosh; and 2 sisters-in-law, Bridgett Williams and Audrey MacIntosh, all from St. Louis, Missouri; and a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, Hattie, Ann, Vance; and many friends. Herb also loved his neighbors dearly: Shirley, Bev & Larry, Marty, and Rose & Jeff.
Herb is rejoicing in Heaven as he is reunited with his wife, both parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, mother-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, niece, Elfrida London, and a great-grandson, Ian. However, most of all, he is overjoyed to be reunited with his dog, Harpo.
Herb was a proud member of the United States Army and took great pride in being a member of the Chained Eagles. Herb loved plants and was an avid wood carver, for which he received the name of "The Duckman". However, anyone who knew Herb, knew that he loved to talk, talk, talk, and TALK. He will be GREATLY missed but NOT forgotten!!!!
The Celebration of The Life of Mr. Herb F. Sherrell will be on Saturday, June 21, 2025, beginning with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon, and the service beginning at noon at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Repass to follow at Howard Johnson's, McKinley room located at 1920 Roschman Ave., Lima, OH 45804.
