I. JEAN VAN ATTA
ADA — I. Jean Van Atta, age 90, died at 10:25 pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born on May 14, 1924 in Ada, Ohio to Floyd D. and Anna Ethel (Pugh) Crowe and they are both deceased. She married Harold F. "Hal" Van Atta on December 20, 1942 and he died August 1, 2006.
Mrs. Van Atta was co-owner and co-operator with her husband, Harold, of Hal & Jean's Restaurant of Ada, Ohio and also owners & operators of 302 Carry-Out of Ada. She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada, Ohio.
Surviving is a daughter, Jean Anne (Gerald "Jerry") Dearth of Ada, Ohio. Also surviving are: three granddaughters, Cinthya Anspach, Tammy Toland and Kari (Scott) Potter; and four step grandchildren, Michael (Dovie) Dearth, Kerrie (Mark) Allen, Karla (Charles) Beagle and Teresa Romick. Seven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren; and one brother, Lowell Crowe of Lima, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a son, Sheridan "Danny" Van Atta. a step great granddaughter and four brothers.
Funeral services will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, Ohio at a later date.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM, prior to the service, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
