ELIDA - Imogene (Genie) Ruth Swick, 93, of Elida, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at The Meadows of Kalida, after a long and fulfilling life.
She was born on January 16, 1932, in Lima, Ohio, to Charles W and Iva E (Bowers) Fisher who preceded her in death; as did brothers Ira Donald, Richard, Charles Fisher and sister, Cleora Howard. On May 11, 1951, Genie married Doyt R. Swick who died at 68 on April 3,1997.
Genie graduated from South High School and completed one year of nurses training. She enjoyed music, singing and church related activities. She was a longtime member of Christian Women's Club and the Immanuel United Methodist church. An accomplished pianist who taught piano lessons and sang in the church choir, as well as a member of Madrigal singers and Lima Civic Chorus. Hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, watching TV mysteries, reading, and crocheting. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three children: daughter, Alesia "Lee" (Donald) Thomas of Tucson, AZ; sons Dennis Craig (Connie passed January 22, 2016) of Elida, Mark of Celina; grandchildren: Michelle Thomas, Russell (Stephannie) Thomas, Brooke McDonough, Sommer Kohli, Jessie (Blake) New, Cody Swick, great grandchildren Zachary, Paige, Kaylee and Andrew Thomas; McKenzie McCormick, Ryker McDonough, Tyler Kohli, Nevaeh Snyder, Addie and Kaisen Swick. Numerous nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Meadows of Kalida and the Bridge Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care and support. To honor her last wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of one's choice.
