James Pace Obituary
ELIDA -- James "Jim" A. Pace, age 83, passed away on July 30, 2023, at 9:16 pm, at his residence. He was born January 3, 1940 in Marion, IN, to William and Nellie (Rutherford) Pace who preceded him in death. On July 7, 1986, he married Barbara "Barb" (Blust) Clum-Pace who survives in Elida.
Jim graduated from Van Buren High School in Van Buren, IN. He retired from Dana Corporation with over 35 years of service and he was also a delivery driver for K & M Tire for over 4 years. Jim was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles #370 and a lifetime member of the BPOE #54. He loved golfing with all his Elks and Springbrook friends and also loved watching golf and Nascar, classic cars, doing Sudoku puzzles and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Jim never met a stranger and liked helping anyone who asked for his help.
In addition to his wife, Barb, Jim is survived by his children: Michael (Kellie) of Marion, IN, Cindy (Mark) Long of Elida and Emily (Mike) Jones of Lima and his step daughter, Angela (Justin) Rossi of Perrysburg, OH. Grandchildren include Dillon Risser, Madison Risser, Zach (Mackenzie) Long, Braden (Moriah) Long, Tabitha (Travis) Messersmith, step-grandchildren Maxwell Rossi and Anabel Rossi. Great grandchildren Bentley Yoder, Austin Holbrook and Lucy Long. He was preceded in death by his son, John Pace, his previous spouse Suzanne Pace and 3 sisters and 2 brothers of Marion, IN.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. John Foster. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Deb's Dogs. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

Feeling sad does quite measure up to how I felt when I head of Jim´s passing. Jim, Barb, Diana and I were next door neighbors in 2012 until we moved to help our son with his new business three years later. Jim was my golfing buddy, and a true friend unlike any other I´ve ever had. I learned that friendship isn´t measured in years, but rather the quality of time spent over those years. The only time Jim got upset with me was when I bought a dump cart. He said, "Why did you buy that? I have one in the shed you could have borrowed!" That was Jim. The first day we met Jim we had to drive to Delphos to pick up a recliner, Jim held out his keys and offered up his truck. That was Jim. We just retired a few weeks ago from that business and were making plans to visit Jim and Barb but this news came too quickly. I´ll have to remember Jim for the friendship that endured well past our leaving Lima. But those memories will last me the rest of my life. Jim taught me what true friendship means. It was easy for him. He loved everybody. That was Jim. I´m going to miss my friend...
