JAMES SUGGS
LIMA — Mr. James P. "Jake" Suggs, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 01, 2016 at approximately 2:02 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems in Lima.
He was born in Mt. Hope, Alabama on November 30, 1937 to the union of Ellis and Hattie Mae (Gasaway) Suggs; both parents preceded him in death.
On June 4, 1964 he was united in holy matrimony to Lois "Lonnie" Saylor Suggs; she survives in Lima.
Mr. Suggs retired from General Motors Corporation after over 25 years of services. He was a member of Beulah Chapel-Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God where he served as ordained Deacon. He was a member of U.A.W. Local Union #211. He loved fishing, gardening and was a sports fanatic.
Besides his loving wife Lois he leaves to cherish his precious memory 4 daughters; Jaime L. Suggs of Ottawa Hills, Ohio. Donna Britt and Carol A. Campbell both of Toledo, Ohio and Linda S. Rowell (George) of Ryhope, England. A son; David Newland of South Carolina. 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A brother; Charlie Lee Suggs (Geadie) of Moulton, AL. A sister; Evangelist Willie Nadine Young of Moulton, AL. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son; Jimmy Newland and an infant daughter Wendy. 3 sisters; Elizabeth Cowan, Rosa Mae Freeman and Glennis Cowan. A brother-in-law; Bobby Young.
Services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Convention Center with Bishop Theodis Foy, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of services, also at the Church.
Entombment: Memorial Park Mausoleum.
