WAPAKONETA -- Jerry Paul Bertram, 86, of Wapakoneta, passed away October 11, 2025, following a brief illness, with his family by his side.
He was born August 31, 1939 in North Vernon, Indiana to William Stewart and Mabel Lavaughn (Klein) Bertram.
After serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps, Jerry returned to Ohio and began a career with Stedke Construction in Lima. After early years there, he moved on to Peterson Construction, where he had the opportunity to excel and make an impact in many ways. Known for his discipline, impeccable attention to detail and hard work ethic, he was grateful to have worked with his sons on numerous jobs. Over the years, he made many lasting friendships and retired from Peterson as their Operations Manager.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and working in the yard. He was often at his workbench focused on various projects. He adored his dogs and loved to spend evenings on the porch with a cigar.
He loved his family and regularly amused them with tales of his life adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Howell) Bertram, their three children: Scot (Shelly) Bertram, Wapakoneta; Kirk (Tonia) Bertram, Cridersville; Brooke (Raul) Camacho, Columbus, OH and five grandchildren: Tyler Bertram, Travis Bertram, Sam Camacho, Emma Bertram, Nick Camacho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Jean Sliger and sister, Janice Reimann.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy St. Rita's, Ohio State Medical Center, the Wapakoneta Manor and Legacy Hospice for their care.
