Joel Hauenstein Obituary
ADA — Joel W. Hauenstein, age 36, died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 4:00 AM at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on October 6, 1981 in Coldwater, Michigan to Wynn L. and Colene S. (Wiseley) Hauenstein who survive in Ada.
Joel was the owner of Image One High-Performance Art and was a Project Estimator for Colonial Surface Solutions of Columbus Grove. He was a 2000 graduate of Ada High School and he received his bachelor's degree in 2005 from Bowling Green State University.
Joel enjoyed designing, fabricating and painting custom motorcycles. He was the founder and organizer of R4YL three day Midwest motorcycle run. He was the guitarist for "Bad Luck & Trouble" band. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada.
Joel received recognition as a content contributor for The Horse BackStreet Choppers, national publication. Two of his custom bikes were featured on the front cover of The Horse BackStreet Choppers. He was the featured artist at "Fuel Cleveland" regional exhibition, sponsored by Low-Brow Customs. He was one of ten custom-builders at nation-wide motorcycle show that was sponsored by The Horse. His latest custom-built bike is to be featured in November 2017 Hot Bike Mag. His was one of forty featured motorcycles and he was one of ten featured artists at the international Harley-Davidson Show that was held at Cobo Arena, Detroit. His was one of ten featured custom-built motorcycles at the "Smoke Out" in Rockingham, NC. Joel had been invited to the LA International (a show with over twenty thousand bikes) as the featured builder in July 2018.
Joel is also survived by his sister, Deidre (Andrew) Allman of Grandview Heights, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Cloyce and Emilie Hauenstein; and his maternal grandparents: Richard and Olive Wiseley.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Brandi Grant-Rigsby and Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Hanson- Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ada VFW Post #9381, 2147 State Route 235, Ada, Ohio 45810.

Sorry to Joels family and friends. I met him 9 years ago and only got to hang out with a few times on weekend motorcycle rides. I don't typically go to motorcycle events and took a chance on going to his first gathering that he held. Through that first get together, I met some of the greatest people around. I am thankful for all of them, and I owe it to Joel. The last time I seen him, we went to a concert in Detroit together. I really got to know him that night, he is just one awesome dude. I will truly miss him.

To the family of Joel's, speaking for everyone here at Colonial Surface Solutions in Columbus Grove,he was the most pleasant person to work with and he was excellent at every aspect of his job. He will be very missed by us and I know speaking for myself I will really miss him in the office he was always helpful with anything you would ask him. Also I know all the customers we have that he dealt with are in shock the same as all of us here. Our prayers are with you always. I have many fond memories of Joel from the BGSU days! I remember him hanging out playing video games, attending car shows, and nights at Norwalk! What an amazing and talented artist and an extremely humble person. He was such a great friend to all and it was such an honor to know him! I'll treasure the memory of him as the best man in my wedding. Sadness is in our hearts and our prayers and hugs go out to you all! Joel will be missed, but I trust that he is in the Lord's loving care!

I worked with Joel, talked to him often, and never knew of all the things that he did outside of work. This speaks a great deal about his personality, very humble and down to earth never had anything bad to say about anyone. I am going to miss having him there.

With the greatest of sadness to see this about Joel. We both are employees at BGSU and worked with Joel and was very fond him throughout his years at BGSU. He was an amazing kid to us! We spend many late night talking about life, family, cars, bikes, drag racing, and everyday life. He had done some artwork drawings for us of our drag / show cars which we to this day proudly display in our home. What an amazing artist he was. God must have a plan for him up there. I'm sure he will be quite popular up there as he was his short time down here on earth. Fly high buddy! We love you Joel!
