John Alberts Obituary

VAN WERT -- John Alberts Sr., a remarkable man who touched the lives of many, passed into Heaven in the early hours of Monday, July 17, 2023 following a courageous battle with illness at the age of 77.

Born in Lima, Ohio, he will forever be adored for his strong and loving nature as well as his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and country. John's comforting guidance and valor throughout his life brought peace and warmth to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John's career accomplishments included serving two tours in Vietnam in the United States Marine Corps where he rose to Staff Sergeant, Law Enforcement, worked for Marquardt Corp. where he held the position of foreman on the team responsible for building the directional boosters on the first Space Shuttle, and served as a Captain with the Lima & Allen Correctional Institutions where he ultimately retired.

John lived a rich and full life filled with various passions, including scuba diving, restoring automobiles, golfing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and horses, and had a lifelong love for fishing.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janis of Van Wert, his daughter Jill Monsauret of Florida, and son Brian (Amy) Alberts of Van Wert. John was also a loving and proud grandfather to eight, and great-grandfather to eleven. John was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Mildred, his son John Alberts Jr., and daughter-in-law Sharlotta.

He will forever be remembered for his profound impact on the lives he touched as a devoted family man, an exceptional professional, and a pillar of strength to those in need. Although deeply saddened by his loss, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain and suffering, and now walks with his son amongst the angels in an abundance of prime fishing spots.

"And you know what else,...Who loves ya baby"

A private celebration of life will be held, and John will be laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests trees be planted in John's memory, or donations may be directed to your local Humane Society.
