John Biery Obituary
LIMA -- Dr. John C. Biery, 77, passed away at 9:40 am, August 13, 2022 at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born November 10, 1944 in Columbus, OH to Richard and Evelyn Joy (Bowman) Biery who preceded him in death. On June 1, 1968 he married Kathleen (Ford) Biery who survives in Lima.
John was a family and sports medicine physician in Ottawa, OH. He was a member of the Ohio Osteopathic Association, Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Medicine, and Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. He was Chairman of the Allen County Water District, Putnam County Health Commissioner, Putnam County Coroner, Allen County and Putnam County Jail Physician for 28 years. John was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of VFW Post 1275.
Survivors include: a Son, Dr. John C. (Shari) Biery of Pensacola, FL; a Daughter, Allison K. Johnson of Lima; 5 Grandchildren, Darren (Jade) Johnson, Kyle Biery, Andrew (Alyssa Jordan) Johnson, Kaitlyn Biery, Trey Johnson, 2 Great-grandsons, Ezekiel Johnson and Landry Johnson; 2 Brothers, Dr. Daniel L. (Betty) Biery of Phelps, NY, James J. (Deb) Biery of Bellefontaine.
He was preceded in death by: a Brother, Richard "R.J." Biery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until time of services at 7:00 pm Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Forest Park United Methodist with Rev. Lynda Lockwood officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine or Truman State University, both in Kirksville, MO.

Very sorry to hear of John's passing. We would meet once a year at the OOA Seminar and "fix" many of the ills of the world. John truly was a "Family Physician", skilled in multiple areas, with unique life skills that made him one of the best. He was a good man. Sincere condolences to family.

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Doc Biery. He was such a great person and doctor. When my husband Mark played football at BGSU Dic Biery was the team physician and helped him out tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. He will be greatly missed.

We used to go to Dr. Richard Bierys house for him to work on the girls and I. I also saw Dr. John In Ottawa! We´ve know Jim for many years and also R.J.
