JOHN PARKER

LIMA — John David "JD" Parker, age 72, passed away at 3:46 pm Sunday, December 11, 2016 at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

JD was born June 30, 1944 in Findlay, OH. His parents Clifford and Florence (Burkholder) Parker preceded him in death. On June 29, 2007 he married Barbara L. "Kitty" Mulcahy Axe Parker who survives in Lima.

JD was a 1962 graduate of Leipsic High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. JD attended the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy and retired from the Lima Police Department in 1993 after 26 years of service. After retirement he continued serving his community as a Code Enforcement Officer, Court Officer and a Lima City Park Ranger. He was an active member and officer of the Fraternal Order of Police, F.O.P. Lodge #21 and was a life time member of Elks BPOE #54. JD loved the open road and traveling with his wife, Kitty on his motorcycle. Most of all JD was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was blessed with a loving family, wife, Barbara L. "Kitty" Mulcahy Axe Parker of Lima, his children, Sheila (Joe Cerda) Webb of Cridersville, Troy D. (Missy) Parker of Lima; Step-children, Brett (Keli) Axe of Clearwater, FL, Tamara (Kevin) Graf of North Olmsted and Jennifer (Duane) Petersen of Westminster, CO; Grandchildren, Charisse (Josh ) Bailey, Drew (Chelsea) Parker, Alex (Rachel ) Parker, Kennedy Parker, Carson Parker, Brady Parker, Cameron Axe, Brennan Graf, Gannon Graf, Christian Petersen and Grace Petersen; great-grandchildren, Karter Miller and Khloe Bailey; brothers, Robert (Marty) Foltz, Ray (Marlene) Marvin, Dick (Sandy) Shafer and sister, Joan (Phil) Rogers; brothers-in-law, Tom Mulcahy and Mary Kay Smith, Bob (Jan) Mulcahy; sister-in-law, Judy Oglesbee and close friends, Steve (Brenda) Snyder.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Tim and Jerry; sister, Shirley and a brother-in-law, Dave Oglesbee.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 am Friday, December 16, 2016 at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Jim Neighbors will officiate the service. Entombment will follow the service in Gethsemani Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, December 15 at the funeral home. F.O.P. services will begin at 8:00 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the JD Parker Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund, through Superior Credit Union or donor's choice.
