BENTON, LA -- John William "Bill" Sherrick, 90, of Benton, LA and formerly of Lima passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at his residence in Benton,
Louisiana.
He was born on July 27, 1934 in Van Wert to John William Sherrick and Ruth Emma (Smith) Naus, who both preceded him in death.
Bill graduated from Lima South High School in 1952 and proudly served in the United States Air Force from June 24, 1952, to June 23, 1956, during the Korean War. After his military service, he attended Ohio Northern University, majoring in engineering. In 1957, Bill launched his career at Ford Motor Company as a draftsman at the Lima Engine Plant. Through 33 years of dedication, Bill worked his way up the ranks at Ford Motor Company, earning promotions that took him to the Dearborn plant and ultimately to Northville, Michigan, where he proudly retired as Plant Manager. After his retirement in 1990, he honored his late father's legacy by owning and operating Sherrick's Wilderness Resort in Crane Lake, Minnesota, until 1997.
He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes Football and watched all their games. Bill enjoyed playing cards and chess. He also loved a good conversation, no matter the time.
Surviving are his five daughters: Vicki Woods of Bellefontaine, Joni (Matt) Fulton of Delaware, OH, Cindi (Denny) Harmon of Elida, Jenni (Jay) Barnhart of Mt. Vernon and Rachel (Addison) Reibeling of Benton, Louisiana; his twelve grandchildren: Angie (Jason) Ramsdail, Brittany (Steve) Farley, Kristin Ferguson, Nicholas (Heather) Coon, Bradley (Kathryn) Coon, Zach Harmon, Kyle (Shannon) Harmon, Gabe Harmon, Brooke Barnhart, Drew Barnhart, Audrey Reibeling, Aspen Reibeling and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Carol (Ron) Niebel of Ft. Wayne, IN.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law John "Brad" Woods, his brother Paul Sherrick and a grandchild Benjamin Harmon.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

So sorry to hear about Bill's passing. Have known Bill since a sophmore in high school. We have kept in touch over all those years. Bill was always a special person in my life. Prayers to all the girls and grandchildren.
